    Meet the Doctor

Mahomet Chiropractic & Acupuncture Health Services

Dr. Daniel Walk grew up in Mattoon, Illinois where he graduated as Valedictorian for the class of 2000.  From there, he earned an academic and athletic scholarship to attend Lake Land College and play baseball for the Lakers.  It was during a baseball game in his sophomore year at Lake Land when he injured his back.  Dr. Walk went on to see a Chiropractor for the first time in his life, Dr. J.D. Williams, for the first time.  As comical as it sounds, Dr. Walk could not walk.  Dr. Williams went on to evaluate Dr. Walk’s condition and then adjusted him.  That adjustment made the world of difference!  Following the treatment, Dr. Walk hopped off the bench and walked out of the office virtually pain-free!  What the Doctor of Chiropractic did for Dr. Walk that day has shaped Dr. Walk’s future and is the reason why he is where he is today.

Dr. Walk went on to join the Fighting Illini!  While at the University of Illinois, Dr. Walk assisted professor and researcher Dr. Hillman in a multi-million dollar grant to study the relationship between exercise and cognition in older persons.  He also enjoyed his time there as a season ticket holder for both the Illini football and basketball games.  He stayed very active and frequently played racquetball, sand volleyball, flag football, and Ultimate Frisbee.  Dr. Walk was also on the Illini Table Tennis Club, was a member of Orange Krush, Illini Pride, and the Chiropractic Club, was the Treasurer for the Kinesiology Student Association, and enjoyed golfing whenever he could.

Dr. Walk spent 3 of his summers in Champaign working for the University of Illinois as he helped run a sports fitness camp for 8-12 year old boys and girls.  During his senior year, Dr. Walk interned with a local Chiropractor, Dr. Scott Erickson.  At Erickson Clinic, Dr. Walk met numerous patients who had wonderful stories about how Chiropractic and Acupuncture helped them.  Some of these stories seemed to be miracles and hearing them made Dr. Walk even more passionate about wanting to become a Chiropractor.

Dr. Walk went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois in 2004.  He also received the highest honor possible by being named to the Bronze Tablet and was chosen as the Kinesiology Student of the Year in 2004.

Dr. Walk decided to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic and matriculated in November of 2004.  While at Palmer, Dr. Walk started the Illinois Chiropractic Club, served as Treasurer to the Student American Chiropractic Association, worked in the Palmer gym, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need, and worked as a radiology technician.  He performed his preceptorship in Peoria, Illinois with Dr. Keith Kramer and earned his Fellowship in Acupuncture through Logan College of Chiropractic and Dr. Richard Yennie.  During the winter break in 2007, Dr. Walk joined the clinic abroad program and traveled to the poor and underdeveloped areas of Bahia, Brazil.  While there, Dr. Walk provided Chiropractic care to over a hundred ailing citizens who did not even have access to a health care provider.  Helping those in need and watching them recover from debilitating conditions was very gratifying for Dr. Walk and definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

In June of 2008, Dr. Walk graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic.  He went on to Minneapolis where he became certified as a Titleist Golf Fitness Instructor and returned home to become a licensed Chiropractor in Illinois.

Dr. Walk’s mother and father, Janis and Steve, along with two of his brothers, Vinnie and Tyler, and Tyler’s wife Lindsey and their son Griffin, reside in Mattoon.  Dr. Walk’s brother and former Illini pitcher, Mitch Walk, lives in southern California with his wife Jessica and their son Dominic and newborn Cameron Vincent Walk (Dr. Walk’s Godson!).  He enjoys being active, getting involved in the community, watching sporting events and he likes to stay fit by working out, running, biking, canoeing, and playing sports.

Dr. Walk is very happy to be in Mahomet and is committed to helping as many people as he can.
