Every day I get the opportunity to hear story after story from the members of our practice about how their lives are improving. These wonderful conversations of happiness, better energy and sleep, less stress, improved motion and strength, no pain, a renewed love for life, and all the other individually unique success stories drive my mission even more to reach out to as many individuals and families in the community as I can and help them discover true health so they along with our practice members can consistently live life well!
Mahomet has been wonderful! I feel blessed with this community just as I am blessed to get to spend my life with my Beautiful wife Katie and Amazing daughters, Ella and Emmy! My girls and I love this town and enjoy all it has to offer: from the great people and businesses, parks and recreation, and wonderful schools to the Lake of the Woods and Riverbend Forest Preserves where we enjoy jogging, riding bikes, hiking and kayaking.
I grew up in Mattoon, Illinois and feel honored to have graduated as Valedictorian for the class of 2000. From there, I was fortunate to earn an academic and athletic scholarship to attend Lake Land College and play baseball for the Lakers. It was during a baseball game my sophomore year at Lake Land when I injured my back. I went on to see a Chiropractor for the first time in my life, Dr. J.D. Williams. As comical as it sounds, I could not walk. Dr. Williams went on to evaluate my condition and then adjusted me. That adjustment made the world of difference! Following the treatment, I hopped off the bench and walked out of the office virtually pain-free! What the Doctor of Chiropractic did for me that day has shaped my future and is the reason why I am where I am today.
I went on to join the Fighting Illini! While at the University of Illinois, I assisted professor and researcher Dr. Hillman in a multi-million dollar grant to study the relationship between exercise and cognition in older persons. I also enjoyed my time there as a season ticket holder for both the Illini football and basketball games. I stayed very active and frequently played racquetball, sand volleyball, flag football, and Ultimate Frisbee. I was also on the Illini Table Tennis Club, was a member of Orange Krush, Illini Pride, and the Chiropractic Club, was the Treasurer for the Kinesiology Student Association, and enjoyed golfing whenever I could find a little time.
I spent 3 of my summers in Champaign working for the University of Illinois and helped run a sports fitness camp for 8-12 year old boys and girls. During my senior year, I interned with a former local Chiropractor, Dr. Scott Erickson. At Erickson Clinic, I met numerous patients who had wonderful stories about how Chiropractic and Acupuncture helped them. Some of these stories seemed to be miracles and hearing them made me even more passionate about wanting to become a Chiropractor.
I went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois in 2004. I was also fortunate to receive the highest honor possible by being named to the Bronze Tablet and was chosen as the Kinesiology Student of the Year in 2004.
I went on to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in November of 2004. While at Palmer, I started the Illinois Chiropractic Club, served as Treasurer to the Student American Chiropractic Association, worked in the Palmer gym, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need, and worked as a radiology technician. I performed my preceptorship in Peoria, Illinois with Dr. Keith Kramer and earned my Fellowship in Acupuncture through Logan College of Chiropractic and Dr. Richard Yennie. During the winter break in 2007, I joined the clinic abroad program and traveled to the poor and underdeveloped areas of Bahia, Brazil. While there, I provided Chiropractic care to over a hundred ailing citizens who did not even have access to a health care provider. Helping those in need and watching them recover from debilitating conditions was very gratifying for me and definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
In June of 2008, I graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic. I went on to Minneapolis where I became certified as a Titleist Golf Fitness Instructor and returned home to become a licensed Chiropractor in Illinois.
I started Walk Chiropractic & Acupuncture in October of 2008, helped the community as a Mahomet Rotarian for over 6 years, and became an active member of the Mahomet Chamber of Commerce where I served on a number of committees, on the Board, and as President for 2 years. Walk Chiropractic & Acupuncture was named the 2011 Mahomet Business of the year. I was also honored to be named to the Central Illinois Business’ Forty under 40 in 2014 and am a proud sponsor of the Mahomet Parks and Recreation, Mahomet Area Youth Club and the Mahomet-Seymour Schools and Athletic Programs.
